Board of Management

Carolyn - President & Chair
Elected to the Governing Board of Launceston Volunteers for Community in February 2021 and current President and Chair of the Board.
I have over twenty years’ experience working with Boards and recently retired from my position as General Manager and Company Secretary for a national not-for- profit company. I have held positions as General Manager and Chief Financial Officer for other national charities and served as Treasurer on the Board of a large Community charity in Canberra.
Having gained extensive experience in business administration, corporate governance and risk management, continuing to give back in the fields where I can add value is important to me.
I believe it is vital that the principles of sound administration and good governance be applied to ‘for purpose’ organisations. This ensures they both maximise their potential and the continued delivery of the important services they provide to the many, perhaps more vulnerable members of the community into the future.
Having been recently awarded a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Company Directors to undertake further Director training I will be putting this to good use in my work at Launceston Volunteers for Community.
I feel it is truly a privilege to be involved in the health and community services sector in Tasmania.

Elected to the Governing Board of Launceston Volunteers for Community in 2022.
I have enjoyed an international career working in senior management positions for not-for-profit organisations in the healthcare sector. During my time in London, I also completed a Masters in Healthcare Management at the City University.
I have served on not-for-profit boards in the UK and Australia, in both the medical and agricultural sectors, including serving as Company Secretary and Vice-President.
Since moving to Australia in 2001 my main focus has been on running family business interests in aviation and agriculture. We moved to Tasmania in 2019 and I quickly became involved in the local community through working as a Volunteer Ambulance Officer with Ambulance Tasmania.
I am proud to be able to utilise my business management skills, experience in the healthcare not-for-profit sector and insights gained through working with vulnerable members of the community, in furthering the work of Launceston VFC.

Holding a management level role within the Tasmanian State Service, I bring an understanding of work health and safety, policy and legislation, and an extensive employment background in working within the not-for-profit sector, in areas of health, human and community services. I have previously held positions on committees, working groups and steering committees, and reported directly to Boards of Management across a number of roles. I have also worked within an area of State Government which manages funding for community service based organisations, which included reviewing reporting, and working with organisations to ensure that their operational, strategic and governance frameworks were robust and contributed to successful service delivery.
I have a strong commitment to life-long learning, which includes opportunity to learn and grow in both employment and volunteering roles, along with opportunities for education and training. I strive to continually improve my leadership skills, and to ensure that I contribute to a culture that aligns to my personal values.
I am passionate about creating the best possible opportunities for engagement and community inclusion for anyone who may experience any kind of vulnerability, and this has been demonstrated throughout my career and extracurricular activities.
I am a Launceston local and take pride in this beautiful city, and state, and the opportunities that living in a smaller state bring to really support each other and foster an environment of kindness and inclusion. I am very excited to be a member of the Launceston VFC Board.

As the EO of a not-for-profit that has gone through a complete restructure and change in funding model, I am experienced with board reporting and organisational change. I have knowledge and experience in marketing, project management, promotional activities, customer engagement and communications amongst other skills.
I spent over a decade in corporate recruitment for global agency Hays in the UK and across Australia, and specialised in recruiting executive accounting and finance staff in various industries from small business to large ASX listed organisations.
I am driven by connection to people and have always volunteered and worked in the community space. As a defence spouse for 15 years I ran a Defence Families Organisation including all their finance, reporting and governance reporting and received an Australia Day Medallion for this work. I have been active in fundraising and events for my children’s school association for many years and am passionate about connecting people and welcoming new residents to our community.
I continue to grow and learn and build on my knowledge in the ever changing governance space and commit my time and energy to promoting and helping the people of Tasmania in my various roles.
I love North Tasmania and am happy to be on the board and contribute my skills to Launceston VFC and their stakeholders.
