Board of Management

Carolyn - President & Chair
Elected to the Governing Board of Launceston Volunteers for Community in February 2021 and current President and Chair of the Board.
I have over twenty years’ experience working with Boards and recently retired from my position as General Manager and Company Secretary for a national not-for- profit company. I have held positions as General Manager and Chief Financial Officer for other national charities and served as Treasurer on the Board of a large Community charity in Canberra.
Having gained extensive experience in business administration, corporate governance and risk management, continuing to give back in the fields where I can add value is important to me.
I believe it is vital that the principles of sound administration and good governance be applied to ‘for purpose’ organisations. This ensures they both maximise their potential and the continued delivery of the important services they provide to the many, perhaps more vulnerable members of the community into the future.
Having been recently awarded a scholarship from the Australian Institute of Company Directors to undertake further Director training I will be putting this to good use in my work at Launceston Volunteers for Community.
I feel it is truly a privilege to be involved in the health and community services sector in Tasmania.

Elected to the Governing Board of Launceston Volunteers for Community in September 2023.
Holding a management level role within the Tasmanian State Service, I bring an understanding of work health and safety, policy and legislation, and an extensive employment background in working within the not-for-profit sector, in areas of health, human and community services. I have previously held positions on committees, working groups and steering committees, and reported directly to Boards of Management across a number of roles. I have also worked within an area of State Government which manages funding for community service based organisations, which included reviewing reporting, and working with organisations to ensure that their operational, strategic and governance frameworks were robust and contributed to successful service delivery.
I have a strong commitment to life-long learning, which includes opportunity to learn and grow in both employment and volunteering roles, along with opportunities for education and training. I strive to continually improve my leadership skills, and to ensure that I contribute to a culture that aligns to my personal values.
I am passionate about creating the best possible opportunities for engagement and community inclusion for anyone who may experience any kind of vulnerability, and this has been demonstrated throughout my career and extracurricular activities.
I am a Launceston local and take pride in this beautiful city, and state, and the opportunities that living in a smaller state bring to really support each other and foster an environment of kindness and inclusion. I am very excited to be a member of the Launceston VFC Board.
